Dovercourt Recreation Centre WAVE Program and Families Matter Cooperative are excited to invite you to a unique networking and knowledge exchange event called The Hot Stove and Collab.

This interactive event is designed to offer parents, siblings and caregivers with new tools, knowledge and information on the future of housing for persons with developmental disabilities.

Where: Van Lang Field House in Westboro (29 Van Lang Private)

Program Schedule:
9:30-10:00am:    Registration
10:00-11:45am:  The Hot Stove
11:45-12:30pm:  Networking event lunch
12:30-3:00pm:    The Collab

Moderated by CBC journalist Ashley Wright, "The Hot Stove" is designed to be entertaining and informative.

Panelists include:

  • Martha Beach (DSO Housing Coordinator);
  • Alison Moore (LiveWorkPlay’s Support Coordinator);
  • Marge McCabe (Housing Task Force member, 2014-18); and
  • Sharon Edwards (Community leader and Past Families Matter Coop Board of Directors).

If you have a burning question you want answered, please send to us in advance and we will try to include it in the Program.

The Collab will be a facilitated group activity to brainstorm and build new and innovative solutions and resources that empower families, foster networks of support and build the capacity of individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities.

Networking lunch:
All participants are welcome to join us for the networking lunch; you can bring your own lunch or buy a lunch ticket when you register.

Registration Fees:
Reduced rates are available for Families Matter Cooperative members, WAVE program families and LiveWorkPlay families.

Payment will be accepted at the event via cash, cheque or credit card.  Cheques should be made payable to Families Matter Cooperative Inc. 

Other details:
We will offer a supervised area for family members who would prefer a quiet space to read, play games or complete arts project.
