Figuring Out the Future

Wow!  I was puttering around the house this morning, just before getting ready to go to work.  As usual the radio was on.  As usual it was glued to the CBC Morning show.  I had only half an ear paying attention.  But then I paid full attention.

If you haven’t heard this item – and you happen to be the parent of an adult son or daughter with a developmental disability – you should listen to it.  I’ll give you the link in just a jiff.  But first I want to tell you why it’s so important.  You already know what I’m about to tell you.  You have an RDSP.  You have a Henson Trust.  Your will is made out.  You may have other adult children and have talked to them about the future care of their sibling.  But are you preparing your son or daughter with the disability for the future?  Do you wonder why I’m asking the question?

Okay.  If you haven’t listened to it already, here’s the interview that you need to listen to.   And it will give you the answer. http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2682121328

I’m sure that I’m not the only one who had a lot to think about after hearing that interview.  I’d be very interested to hear your thoughts.
